Canadian’s Immigration Requirements

Canadian’s Immigration Requirements

Introduction

There are two different ways to get into the country; the first way is by getting a residence permit in the country; another is by getting into the country through a work permit (temporary). Usually, people don’t understand what it means to be a permanent resident of Canada. The truth is that once a permanent residential permit, you will have the same rights as every other citizen in the country. The way to keep the permanent residency is by staying in the country for at least 2 years in the space of 5-year duration; then after 3 years, you can apply for Canadian citizenship. Also, because Canada permits individuals to have double citizenship, which means that after getting Canadian citizenship, you can still get to keep your previous passport.

There are some differences between being a permanent resident and having citizenship; first, a permanent resident will not participate in any general election. The second is that a citizen would have rights, while a permanent resident will be sent out of the country if he/she is found wanting for any crime.
