What is permanent residency?

How long does it take to get your PR card?

However, for individuals who wish to have their permanent resident card renewed, then it will take about 104 days. The downside to the application is that it could take some individuals several months before they can get their permanent resident card processed. It is sometimes good if you let it take a while before the card is processed.

Since people are usually eager to become a permanent resident in Canada, they might not know how to get it. So, once you become a new permanent resident in the country, the IRCC will send the card through a mail so that you will be able to have proof before entering into the country. Now, if you ignored the mailing address on the form, then you can go to the IRCC’s tool within the space of 180 days that you became a permanent resident. If this process isn’t done, then you will have to forfeit your card and begin to process a new one which will cost you more. If by chance you do not acquire your PR card within 6 weeks, then you can send a report to IRCC and let them be aware of your problem.

If you are also an existing member and you need your permanent card to be renewed, then your card can be easily be sent through your mail. Also, there are some cases where you might have to go to the IRCC office directly to pick it up. However, if you are randomly chosen by the IRCC, then you will have to make an appointment with their office, it is ok if you decide to cancel and make another appointment. But you will have to pick up your card on or before the 180 days given to you unless your card will expire.
